Join us for the fourth edition of Books & Brunch, where we’ll come together for a cozy morning of good food, meaningful stories, and community connection. We’ll spend the morning enjoying brunch, sharing favourite books, and celebrating the joy of reading together as families. Everyone is welcome to bring a book to exchange, giving both children and adults the chance to discover something new.
Throughout the event, you’ll be able to explore our pop-up, community-sourced library, filled with books contributed by members of the Afro Swiss Families community. This edition features a special read-aloud of Your Name Is a Songby Jamilah Tompkins-Bigelow, a beautiful and empowering story about identity, belonging, and the music in our names.
This will also be an open mic reading session. Guests who would like to read aloud from a favourite book are warmly invited to do so. To make the experience accessible for everyone, we ask readers to share images of the pages they plan to read in advance, so they can be displayed on the projector during the reading.
To extend the story beyond the page, children will take part in a creative activity inspired by the book, encouraging them to celebrate their own names through art and imagination. Feel free to bring books to share, exchange, or donate to the Afro Swiss Families Library—and join us for a morning of food, stories, creativity, and connection.
Registration opens January 2026. Should you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact us at hello@afroswissfamilies.com.
