We’re inviting our young community to take part in the Afro Swiss Families Youth Club’s first-ever Zukunftstag Hackathon — a creative, hands-on Coding Camp designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and problem-solving.
As part of our first Zukunftstag programming initiative, this Hackathon introduces children and teens aged 8 to 14 to the world of coding and digital creation. Participants will work individually or in small teams to build simple digital projects inspired by a shared theme. Details of the activity will be confirmed, but it will most likely involve creating an animation or an interactive project. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to explore something new.
Throughout the session, young participants will experiment with beginner-friendly tools such as visual programming, coding games, or small digital challenges designed for quick learning and big “Aha!” moments. They’ll collaborate, test ideas, fix small bugs, and support one another as they bring their creations to life in a playful, welcoming space.
The Hackathon will finish with a Show & Tell, giving everyone the chance to share what they built, talk about their ideas, and celebrate their achievements. The focus is on exploration rather than competition — each participant leaves proud of what they accomplished.
The event will take place at a venue in the Zurich area, with the final location to be confirmed. Parents are welcome to drop off their children, and the workshop will be supervised by Afro Swiss Families Parent Chaperones to ensure a safe, encouraging, and inclusive experience for all.
We look forward to celebrating #Zukunftstag with our young creators as we explore new skills, unlock imagination, and inspire the next generation of thinkers and maker
